Of Page3, Mikaeel, Hitler and Mumbai!

When I read some of the news articles, I don’t know whether I should smile, laugh or just bang my head at some place! Those are the moments when the emotional juices get cocktailed within me and I end up not knowing how exactly to react. You may say, What the…ya say it common… 馃榾
But I do have my own reasons…picture these cases:

I The Single Sirens…
Recently on two different days, I read Page3 about the relationship status of two females who act in movies (can’t call them actresses, in any way)…these are the so called sirens or show stoppers in the movies that they act in.
Day 1 was about Kim Sharma (ya she’s the one who was in Mohabattein, but more famous for being Cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s mom’s naapasand!)…She gave a statement saying “I am happy to be single”…gimme a break lady…happy should be the one who is lucky enough not to be her boyfriend/date. She also says she’s busy working and travelling…haha…whatta joke…busy with what (never heard of her being in any of the movies)…and travelling where?? to Malgudi?? 馃槇
Day 2 was about our very slim south Indian bombshell Namitha…out of no where, she announces that she’s single…till then, she was fixed on “I am not seeing any guy”…now that she is single, my mind tickles with the query as to “was she dating gals then??”!! Anything said and done, my roommate was happy that she was now available…I think its high time for him to realize that he’s not of the gender that she prefers. This is me and my perception! 馃槈

II The “Thriller” Conversion…
As the economy shook and there were turmoils happening all over the world, our Micheal “thriller” Jackson took to Islam and accepted the name of one of Allah’s angels – Mikaeel. Nothing wrong in this, as he first understood the religion – saw how his brother Jermaine Friday (who convereted to Islam in 1989) fared – and then one fine morning/noon/evening in this very month of November’08, he converted with the help of an Imam. Hope he now gets to understand the difference that exists between black, white and kids…
The popular sms doing the rounds on this – Why did Michael get converted to Islam? Well, it maybe to have a real reason for him to wear a Burkha to cover his face.
He’s loved women. He’s loved kids. So I would say, this conversion is much better than his going gay…with Micheal you never know! 馃槈

III ONE and only ONE…
Ah! Another one I just remembered reading was on Adolf Hitler, the German dictator. It seems he had just one nut down there, and the article that I read was about how some people (scientists and historians if I am not wrong) were actually elated and at joy proving this theory (so far) true. They proved the autopsy report right, based on one of the writings of Hitler’s doctor who had examined him pants down. In the write-up, the doctor seemingly amazed by his discovery wrote a whole page about something that wasn’t there!! Phew! 馃槢
For more on this, you can CHECK HERE!

This write up was to divert my mind of the various other life taking incidents that have happened in India in the past week:
1) Deep condolences from the bottom of my heart for all those lives lost in the worst terrorist attack that India faced at Mumbai for the last three days…
2) Kudos to the ATS personnel, NSG commandos and the Cops who fought the terrorists to save hundred of lives without worrying about their own safety.
3) Salutes to those individuals who sacrificed their lives in the process.

And ya…how can I forget to wish these…
i) Right Middle finger to the cowards who created this chaos and thought they would go back alive!
ii) Left Middle finger to Raj Thackeray (where the hell was he?? talks about Mumbai Nirman and stuff saala) and all those speech delivering politicians who didn’t waste time to gain some political mileage!

By the way, the cyclone “Nisha” which took over 50 lives and disturbed the living lot in here at Chennai seems to be over for now. Though there are intermitent rains, its all ok my friends!! 馃榾

Of IT, recession, exploitation, BPO and threat! sigh..

Well…as you all know it is recession times indeed…and every optimist would say…this is the time to raise from the dead, to cash in on the low economy, to test your basic strategies…but its also that time, which can be misused in the name of cost cutting, strategy change, innovative employment, et al.
This is the time where pink slips are being distributed as if it were Diwali bonus or something…But this is also the time when in IT companies, freshers (people without experience) are being exploited as they have no other option but to聽oblige.

Check out聽the mail below聽which a leading IT service company has聽sent to its future employees who were campus recruited in regions like West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and the North Eastern states.
PS: I will聽not name the company…mainly cos either聽you know the name or rather will聽get to know as you read.

The letter dated 25th Nov. 2008 is as below (unedited except for the name)! 馃槈
*************************************************************************

Asking to join a BPO??? WTF…

Pay is unchanged I heard, but you’ll know only after you join…

BTW, why should the bond period of 15 months be agreed upon for a BPO…you can instead join any other BPO without or with a lesser bond period (and without paying upfront)!

“Can be moved to”…is a dangerous corporate term, my friends….its not as simple as it may seem when you read. It would be synonymous to “Let’s see later about that…” 12-18 months after you join.

And believe me, these 12-18 months of anticipation for a move to the technologies would be the worst period if you are a technically inclined person. And it would by all means lead to depression if things don’t go the way you have been anticipating after those 12-18 months…have seen this happen, so beware…

//(within 24hrs * 7days)// What does this mean??? Sickos…

“If you decline this offer or do not respond…..” – this shows how they are exploiting the freshers by threatening them – jump into fire or no food situation- and hence exploiting the situation.

I would say, before any of you freshers respond to this – do APPLY your THOUGHTS!! 馃檪

More on this聽OVER HERE…and don’t forget to read the comments over there, could help u make a decision! 馃檪

Going Insane in Cyclonic Rain! :)

Bleep…a mail popped up on my screen…

It was from the HR guys…asking us to leave one hour early as there was a cyclone alert in Chennai raised for today evening.
There were murmurs and smiles around, till about the very last line was read…December 5th was the day we had to put in an extra hour to compensate for today’s let off. One said, “This mail is a mere eye-wash from the HRs….” and the rest agreed with him.

Ting Tong…a message popped on my Moto as I was busy winding up for the 5pm escape.

It vaguely read – “There’s Cyclone alert…Lets go the beach?” – it was Rahul and I went wow! My teammate was like “Are you nuts? Go home”…Aparna said “I want to kill you…and you want to go to the beach to die”…Nive was like “Paagal hey kya? Ghar ja”…and so at 5pm, I called up Rahul to confirm. 馃榾

On reaching home, mom called. I cut her call, and called back (“beta jab se kaam karta hey, phone bhi wahi karta hey” is her fav. liner…so I adhere to it! :D)! She was like “Its very chill here in Bangalore today, am on the train back home…heard there’s a cyclone alert there…where are you now?”…I told her that I was at home but had plans to go towards the beach side for dinner! Surprisingly she didn’t object…just said, “be careful and get back home soon”! May be she has understood that her son would do the things just the way he wants to…not mamma’s boy anymore! Hmm..

6:20pm: Its a steady drizzle…I start my Activa and head towards the beach…along with Rahul, who was waiting at the petrol bunk near my place on his bike! And in exact 5 minutes we are on the beach road, semi-wet. We park our vehicles near the Barista franchise, and head to buy some peppermints! 馃榾 This is when the thing we came to enjoy and experience happened…it starts to rain like crazy and to beat it all were the high velocity winds…Man, must say we both had a hell of an experience…LOVED it! 馃榾

I must confess that two negative thoughts came into my mind as we were battling the high speed wind + rain…1. What if some object thrown by the wind came and found us as its target? and 2. What if we step on some live current wire?…I asked Rahul about this, but the ruthless bloke just laughed at me both the times!

We were by now all drenched and soaking…had this feeling of being a sponge….we then went to Mash, a burger/sandwich/pasta/sizzlers joint located on the first floor of a building facing the beach…and the rest of the evening till I returned home around 9 15 was about hogging, chatting, meeting new guys (Rahul’s 3 roomies had dropped in) and some talks that cannot be said here. 馃槢

Overall, it was a mind blowing experience. 馃榾

That’s me聽on the beach facing portico聽of Mash, with the deserted beach in my background. The lack of light and usage of a cell phone as camera, is exactly why this photo isn’t clear. 馃榾

Jerry Buddyweiser – No More!! Hmm…

HE CAME, HE SAW, HE was CONQUERED.
No. I am not talking about Julius Caesar here…But about our Jerry Buddy-weiser! 馃槈

I am now feeling sad to say that, “He’s no longer amidst us”! May his soul rest in peace! Amen! 馃檪

Let me talk a few words about the one who aspired to be my roommate sans my wish and permission.
Knowingly or unknowingly, he had come into my room a month ago and tried hard to be a part of my life….The first time I saw him, he ran under my bed faster than a cheetah would…I didn’t mind his I-don’t-like-the-way-you-look run, but I distinctly remember having sprung up on my feet and up on the bed…yes, I was happy and excited beyond limits to get a new roomie!! 馃槈

I named him Jerry…and though he was not considered one among us, he had no hard feelings and made the most of our absence in our flat. While my roommates and me share the flat, he made the kitchen and one of the bathrooms his own. Ofcourse, we wouldn’t use the bathroom in a stranger’s presence, for that matter in anybody’s presence…no way, and I bet he very well knew that fact…weirdo! 馃榾

Three weeks passed by and he grew bigger eating the leftovers of what we cooked…and sometimes he even ate the ingredients! It was ok if he shared the monthly grocery bill, but no…Jerry didn’t share saala…but he did eat, and ate till he bloated as if he had never heard about the zero-sized Bebo…I must confess, that our frequencies never matched – nor did the wavelengths!聽馃槈

The day before I went to Mangalore, I decided to treat him with food specially available for his kind in the market…Mortein Rat Cake…and kept two pieces of it…one in his kitchen and one in his bathroom. Both were untouched the next morning. He didn’t seem to have come…may be he was angry over the fact that I didn’t invite him or probably he had a booze party somewhere else. Hic! 馃榾

Last Wednesday when I returned, I asked my roomies as to what happened to those cakes…they said, “Probably Jerry ate that one, but we didn’t find him”!! I thought he ate it and had gone wandering…but I saw him the next day (Thursday) in his bathroom. He must have come along with me to Mangalore, I presumed. 馃槢

Sunday, I decided to treat him again. So took the second packet of cake, cut it into two halves and placed them in his two haunts…Today morning, I found the half kept under the kitchen sink all gone…so I went to check his bathroom…and what I saw, made me all sad…he was gone…not from his bathroom, but from our lives.

He had passed away, probably due to congestion in his wind pipe…one piece of cake per night was advisable, but our Jerry was a glutton. He was so late to realize that and sadly, Jerry is now “late” forever.
I jumped again, ran out all excited to wake up my sleeping roomie. When he blabbered something in his sleep, I just left him there. Left a note for him, asking him to take care of the final rites of our most recent roomie.

I came back home from office late in the evening and was devastated to see that the body of Jerry was still lying exactly where I saw him in the morning. He deserved much better. I took a deep breath and decided to give him what he deserved, a fitting burial in the garbage pile near my flat. But before that I needed to make his life with us memorable. So I took a photograph of the body his soul had left behind. 馃檪

So my dear friends, you can offer your condolences – flowers, candles, rat-cake, et al – at his PORTRAIT HERE!! 馃檪

Condolences in cheque and cash, can be addressed directly to my address – yes, I stay offline too. They will fund the non-profitable Jerry foundation, which is now set up for the welfare of his ever loving roommates! 馃榾

Teri yaad…

Tu meri mohabbat, tu meri hi chaahat…
Tumhe mein mehsoos karu, aur teri muskurahat…
Kyun gayi tum mujhe chodke yaar, itne dino baad…
Main kya karu, sataaye teri yaad…

Har sunsaan gali, har samandar ke kinare…
Doondtha hoon tujhe, tere yaadon ke sahaare…
Jaane kyun tum mujhe yaad aati hey…
Saaya banke kyun mann ko sataati hey…

Chehre pe thi jo hasi, jaane kahan woh gayi…
Shaayad tum apne saath usko churaa legayi…
Jin aankhon se tum mujhe cheda karti thi…
Kyun achanak se woh palkhen bandh kar gayi…

Jaana hi tha toh mujhe bhi le chalti apne saath…
Tumhaare bina kat tha nahi din, naa kat thi hey raath…
Kyun gayi tum mujhe chodke yaar, itne dino baad…
Main kya karu, sataaye teri yaad…

You are my love, you are my desire…
I feel you, as well as your smile…
Why did you leave me and go, after so many days…
What do I do, your memories do pain…

Every deserted road, every ocean shore…
I search for you, with the help of your memories…
I wonder why I remember you…
Why as a shadow you tickle my mind…

The smile on my face, I wonder where it disappeared…
May be you stole and took it along with you…
Those eyes from which you used to tease me…
Why did you have to close those eyelids and go…

If you had to go, you could have taken me with you…
Without you, days and nights do not pass…
Why did you leave me and go, after so many days…
What do I do, your memories do pain…

Rants of an Eligible Bachelor! :)

eligible_bachelor

Well…I was back on wednesday morning…but then tiredness, body-ache and work too priority before getting back to this online den of mine!! 馃檪

It had been a good long weekend…I set out on friday night in a train to Mangalore and as expected found myself amidst a gang of 65+ yr old men and women…I suddenly had this feeling of being on my way to Amarnath, Vaishnodevi, Kashi, Haridwar or some other pilgrimage place…it was just an instant feeling!! 馃槈
The worst thing about being in the company of the senior citizens in a train is that they switch off the lights when its 10pm and in most cases also switch off the godforsaken fans citing cold as the reason…since they get air from the window peeps, the ones (like me) on the upper berth are gone for a toss. The best thing about being in their company is that I get to eat whatever they offer as well as I get some time for myself (else I would spend that time checking out the PYTs)!! 馃榾

I checked the chart before boarding the train…there was a 24 F who was supposed to board the train from Palghat in the morning and get down at Cannanore…a 2 hour 30 mins ride for the chick…but sadly when I opened my eyes, it was 11am…all I did was sleep more! Sigh!

As I approached closer to Mangalore, I got down from my berth and looked outside the window and at the Payanur station found a yellow banner reading “Self volunteering for Vasectomy is good for your own Health, your state Kerala and our country India” in white paint…What the…I mean, of all things…I guess since mostly older men travel (they do whenever I do, at least) on this route, this banner was at the right place!! 馃槈

The wedding and all the rituals went by peacefully…and my dear friends, your friend (ya me…aur kaun) has now become the most eligible one from both his maternal and paternal side.!!! Being the first grandchild on my mom’s side, I was born eligible…lol…and it took me 25 yrs and almost 7 months to become eligible from my dad’s side (blame my late grand-dad for all that targets he achieved with my grandma…may god bless his soul)!! Phew…

The return journey back to Chennai was no sweeter…though I came via Bangalore and hence boarded 2 trains on 2 consecutive nights, my luck remained the same…just plain, simple and hard!! 馃槮

Wednesday was busy….I didnt even realise as to how it went by…The only time I took to relax was to get done with the dreaded photo shoot for my office ID card!! It took him 3 shots to kill…err…get my pic right! First click, he said “Sir, is it ok if i click you without your spectacles? They reflect…blah blah”….Second Click, “Sir you have tilted your head to the right…one more pls”…and he adjusted my head by tilting it to my left…and clicked the third successful one…
If you ask me, the problem was with him cos when he clicked he tilted to his right side and always set his object tilted to their left!! Classic case of “Finding faults in others is easy”!! 馃榾

Today it was terrible…I goofed up at work…Did some financial postings which I wasn’t supposed to do…But I did!! Sat the whole noon reversing all the mess I had done…and in the evening client call, I explained the mishap and got off the hook! Phew…

At home here, I had planted the rat kill bait for Jerry…seems like he was happy to eat it and go…only to return after 5 days…May be he got admitted to a hospital with tummy ache after eating that!! Damn that product from Mortein…Jerry might now be immune to such baits!! Sheesh!!

Well so far, its all gone good…
Had round dosas聽now as聽food…
I simply love my bachelorhood…
Eligibilty now adds a little bit of attitude!! 馃槈
