[Poetry]~Passing the Apron! ;)

I didn’t think about the dinner at night…
When I fell in love with her at first sight…

I did what-not like look into her eyes…
Not thinking once, if she could cook some rice…

We were then married, all set for life…
“Can you chop these?” she asked, handing over a knife…

With onions in hand, I said “Sure…not a big deal!”…
So this is how I cried, as she cooked our first meal….

Meals ready, she asked “So…how’s the food…”…
Also giving me options, “…tell me darling…good or very good?”…

With a morsel of food in mouth, I said “Hmm…wELL…”
And looked at her smiling, as I silently let the moment dwell…

She smiled back as she understood that stupid look on my face…
“Why don’t you cook henceforth?” she grinned, enrolling me in the race…

I still wonder, as to who thinks about kitchen delights…
As they continue to fall in love at first sights! 😉

Never have I loved someone before… :)

I think of you, as it rains…
And when it stops, only your thought remains…
I see you, smiling bright…
When the sun shines out of sight…
I miss you, as the sun sets…
Deeper I fall in love, the darker it gets…

Never have I loved someone before…
…as much as I’ve loved you…

I feel alive, by the touch of your hands…
And I wish this stays forever, as it stands…
Lost in your thoughts, I search for the light…
Remembering you smile, I wish you were here tonight…
I miss you, as the sun sets…
Deeper I fall in love, the darker it gets…

Never have I loved someone before…
…as much as I’ve loved you…

The Phone Call…

It was pretty dark out there and the ceiling I was staring at wasn’t visible at all. Having succumbed to an unusual power cut, I was lying on the floor and the phone rang. It was the landline and I hated it when someone called on that. What was the cell phone for? I had to now get up, go and check who was calling. I hated it when they played around asking me to recognize their voices as if it were of Amitabh or Lata and which if I wrongly did, would be reprimanded for. I swore a hundred times over, before answering the call.

“Hello”

Ah…that was Dita…Anandita Chawla…

“Hey…wassup??”

“Hello…I’m in a very bad state…can we meet up?”

“What happened?? Sure…”

“Will tell when we meet up…how about early tomorrow morning, by the beach side?”

“Ya, that’s fine, but why not now??? Where are you??”

“Nah…it’s too late right now…I’ll be fine till then…don’t you worry…I promise to see you tomorrow!”

“What are you talking about…I mean why are talking like this?? Tell me please…”

“It’s a long story…will tell you in person.”

“Where you are? I’ll be there right now…I’m so worried now…”

“Nah…Sammy…Nah… listen to me…tomorrow morning, at the beach…6 am sharp…ok?”

“Hey c’mon…you think I’ll be able to sleep now?? Huh…Why not now Dita?? Why not now??”

“It’s not that easy for me to tell everything on the phone Sammy. I’m upset with all that has happened with me over the last 24 hours…I’m terribly shaken by it all that I now need some time to rest but…”

“What happened?”

“…but I needed to tell you that I’m gonna be alright and so the call.”

“What the hell happened, Anandita?”

“Sammy, please try to understand…I’m not at my best right now to share the details of all that has happened with me…understand my incapability and meet me tomorrow at our usual spot.”

“You bet. But I’m skeptical about me getting sleep anymore…hmm…but as you say, we shall catch up tomorrow morning.”

“Bye…and try to sleep Sammy…Sorry, but I had no one else to fall back on.”

“It’s fine Dita. Do take care of yourself. Bye”

What had happened with Anandita? Why was she so petrified and about what? What would she have gone through? I had no clue…Whom do I ask about it? I knew no one related to her. Nor did I know any of her friends personally, to have their contacts. How will I sleep with so much of stuff on my mind? I was now profusely perspiring in the dark and there was no sign of the power cut coming to an end.
Just then I heard another ring. It was the cell phone this time displaying my housemate Shirish, on the line.

“Hey Rish…”

“Yo Sam…I’m on the way to my hometown man. Just wanted to tell you two things: 1. Don’t forget to keep the milk in the fridge and 2. The landline is dead man, get it repaired.”

A dry day, in May!

Lights are flashing, mind’s disturbing…
Not my fault, her love’s lost…
Tides repeating, times are changing…
Not her fault, it pained me a lot…

Met her down the street…
Sometime late, of last September…
We had fun, mood being upbeat…
And a walk to remember…

Hand in hand, singing a song…
Caring for none, loud and drunk…
Going no where, just heading along…
Beneath the vast sky, lay our bunk…

Talking of birds, and to stars…
Lost in time, and into each other…
Window-shopping, strolls to bazaars…
Bonds got stronger, we didn’t bother…

And then…

One fine morning, it all went wrong…
Sometime mid, of this May…
There was no music, thus ended the song…
There was no her, no liquor, just a dry day…

PS: This is a rejected piece of work for an internal corporate blog-a-zine…rejected cos the theme was “Be happy” and this one though started happy, went sour 😉

[Poetry]~ But then…

Aaradhnak and I were having this chat. Well, we do a lot of blog-a-talk discussing on topics – what we write, what we don’t, what went or can go wrong, what we didn’t try for long or at all, et. al.
A: “It’s been a long time since you wrote something poetic…in English”
Me: “Hmmm…yeah, seems like…you want it to be sad or with humor?”
A: “Sad is better…we can at least be sad…” and after a pause she said, “…and at the same time laugh, at the way you write sad poetry” 🙄

Hmm…So dedicated to A…Call it poetry or whatever…here’s to a bit of sadness – that you can choose to laugh on! 😀

It all changed and I don’t know how…
You just came by, and I fell in love…
It was my first time, this acquaintance…
Happy and excited I was, at that instance…

Flowers bloomed, happiness was all around…
I heard music, in every other silly sound…
The moments you were missed, were very few…
As at every blink of an eye, I did see you…

But then…

Why did you leave me all alone…
Why did you break-up over the phone…
Why did you make me write this song…
Why did you promise to sing along…

What happened to those happy times…
Are they just meant for those nursery rhymes…
Tell me, where did I go all wrong…
I thought this would last a lifelong…

Hmm…

It all changed and I don’t know how…
What do I do without you, now…
It’s so damn tough, to live in the past…
You were my first, you are my last…

[Hindi]~ Kyun hey? Hmm..

Dunno why I wrote this, when I wrote this…

All I know is that I wrote it long long ago, and found it on my desk scribbled on a sheet of cramped paper!

Khilta hey gulaab, Khilta hey khwaab…
Har sawaal ka nahi milta kyun hey jawaab?

Tadapta hey jism, Tadpata hey pyaar…
Izhaar se zyaada karna padta kyun hey intezaar?

Barasta hey baarish, Behti hey nadiya…
Chor bazaar ke peeche gumsum kyun hey galiya?

Rangeen hey wadiya, Rangeela hey mann…
Do paise kamaane ke liye bechti kyun hey ye tann?

Khula hey aasmaan, Khuli hey khidki…
Khota hey naseeb, najaane kyun hey kadki?

If you are feeling sad reading whatever you read, have a smile…like this gentleman! 😀

Aayi Woh

Uske aane ki raah mein, main najaane kitne dino se kar-raha tha intezaar…

Akela tha main, badh-rahi thi garmi…
Naa chain ki neend, naa thi uski chumban ki narmi…
Aakir mein usko bhoolne ki, ki maine koshish…
