Of P.I.N.K Balls and Office Communicator Talks! ;)

To begin with, some very colorful news: We are soon going to see the usage of PINK Balls in Cricket. Yes, you read it right โ€ฆP.I.N.K balls!! ๐Ÿ˜› When the proposed day-n-night test matches kick-off, ICC (International Cricket Council) is going to propose the usage of Pink balls for the new format. Earlier when day-n-night ODIโ€™s (50 over format) was introduced; white balls were used for the first time replacing the usual red cherry.

How do you explain to someone who needs an explanation to a one-liner answer? Picture this group chat on the office communicator:

Friend1: How to go to Citi Center Mall from my house in Nanganallur?
Friend2: Why do you want to go?
Me: Go to the Mount railway station; take a train to Chennai Beach and then a train again to Lighthouse. 2 mins walk from there. Fast n inexpensive!
Friend1: hmm hmmโ€ฆany other way?
Friend3: Ping some guys on the OCS and see if they have plans to go that way. Ask them if they can drop you to the mall. Donโ€™t forget to put the winking smiley! ๐Ÿ˜›
Friend2: Whom are you meeting there?
Friend4: Take a bus, 21G from Guindy. It directly goes to Citi Center.
Friend1: How to do that? Where to take the bus from?
Me: Ok, let me explain. Get out of your house, go to Mount station. I assume you know how to do that. Board a train to Guindy and get down when the station arrives. Come out of the station and cross the road. Donโ€™t forget to look left and right while crossing the road, even though itโ€™s a one way. Rules are rules, you see. On crossing the road, stand facing the station and wait for the bus, 21G to arrive. Hopefully you wouldnโ€™t have to wait for long, but anyway do carry an umbrella to save yourself from the scorching heat. Once 21G arrives, board it with your left foot first and stare at a seated guy with your eyes enlarged, indicating that heโ€™s occupying the ladies seat. Throw in a tantrum or two and make sure occupy that very seat. Then the bus door closes (if not, itโ€™s ok…enjoy the fresh air)…itโ€™s a 27 min rideโ€ฆsight the few historic buildings n churches on the way, enjoy the ride. When Citi Center arrives, the door would open (assuming it was closed earlier)…get off board with your left foot first again…enter Citi Center mall with your right foot first…Everything will go perfect and you would have reached the mall as you would have expected. By the way, donโ€™t forget to smile at the security for some good footage on the hidden CC TV, if any! ๐Ÿ˜›
Friend1: Sounds cool. Iโ€™ll ping and see if any of the guys will agree to drop me off.
Me: Sigh!

And it rained…

It rained in Chennai on April 30th evening, much to all our astonishment and relief. I couldn’t enjoy the rain in peace, as I was on my way home – to Bangalore. ๐Ÿ˜€

But then I did enjoy getting dirty..some heavy vehicle splashed the water logged on the road while I myself walked into some slush and had some fun (its a different story that there’s wasn’t any other way to get out off there!!) ๐Ÿ˜€

Awaiting more rains… ๐Ÿ™‚

A ‘cricket’ visited my home as the IPL matches were going on..was it a sign of the ‘rains’ being on the way!! ๐Ÿ™‚

All in the NEWS…and more! ;)

Disclaimer: All I have written down could make sense to those who have it in them…These could be facts, imaginations, expectations and every form of nonsense. If you are a Pakistani, NO I cannot give you any proof for anything written here…

1) The only thing to happen since the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai, is NOTHING!
Pakistan needs proof when their own soldier says he’s from that damn country out of which India was born or got its independence in 1947 (You won’t believe? Read the social studies syllabus of 2nd to 8th grade text books that the kids read there!!)!! The proof that India gave is not credible…what the pak!!!
Our Next Try: Write whatever we want them to read and understand, from right to left…

2) Delhi, the capital of India is being tarnished due to 2 things (which I want to point out)…
One…is the political scenario…they simply can’t take decisions…When our respected PM talks in that feminine tone, we laugh…just imagine how greener the enemy camp could get giggling to glory!
Mr. PM, stop throwing flowers at your Pak counterparts to see if it hurts them…Take a decision and stop requesting!! Remember you are a nuclear power now…why bend and get screwed by a nation where terrorism is a state policy?
Our Next Try: If not war and nuclear…atleast export Antrax, HIV, Smallpox, Chikungunya, Mayawati, Naqvi and all such good viruses to them as a token of peace!
Two…is the behavior of testosterone driven males…stop abducting and raping helpless young women you a**hole* (‘s’ doesn’t work in my keyboard, sometimes…)!! Maa-behen nahin hey kya?
Our Next Try: To castrate each offender and send them to our favorite neighboring country…Pak!! ๐Ÿ™‚

3) I couldn’t wait for “Slumdog Millionaire” to release in India after reading one awesome review after other about how good the movie is, in the various corporate blogs! I searched for a torrent, got one with a good print (a small 4MB sample was given to check the print) and downloaded it…Watched it the very moment it was downloaded and ready!! And you know what…
I simply loved it….the hype did make sense. The concept, the screenplay, the background music, the acting, the fast pace – each of it was awesome! Do watch it….after it releases in India on 23rd of this month or before that!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
Our Next Try: To release a movie having “India” in it as central topic/matter, FIRST IN INDIA!! Sigh!

4) Whatever movie stars do, becomes the talk of the town…
Abhishek Bachchan had a haircut…and now the hottest question in the media is – “Do you like AB Baby’s new haircut?” – if you ask me, he looked GAY!!

ab-babyย Waise…I heard of an interesting masala with respect to the Bachchan Family…
I got to hear that: Amitabh is a Casanova…Aishwarya (like Rekha before) is his “keep”…Jaya is a drug-addict (Ah! our respectable RajyaSabha member)…and AB baby is GAY with a Spanish (or wherever) boyfriend (yes, AB baby is the GF in the relationship – Now dont you feel he was so natural in his Dostana role?)!! Now I don’t know if its true/false/no-comments…but a reply-comment from any of these 4 or Amar Singh (Jaya runs to him when high, is another angle ;)) would be considered valid. Even from the Spanish DUDE would be accepted! ๐Ÿ˜€
Our Next Try: To not make these filmi people, our idols and role models…

5) God knows whats happened to Australia…the way they are playing, even Bangladesh and Zimbabwe could fancy their chances!! Maites, whats up? why so down and under?
The South Africans are beating them black and blue…giving credits to India for being an inspiration (the 2001 Australian tour of India…remember the Kolkata test match?) and thus screwing the Maites mentally too!! ๐Ÿ˜€
Our Next Try: To educate the Australians that they should play on the cricket field and not try to analyse the similarity between Maa-ki and Monkey!! Its not the same Maite!!

๐Ÿ˜€

DD news used to end with weather report…So well…Lemme also try predicting…

Weather is hot…What with Deepika celebrating her 23rd birthday and our Hot Bipasha didi celebrating her 30th one!!ย  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Samaachar samaapth…Namaskar!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Dada – The Offside will never be the same!! :(

sourav_ganguly

Its indeed sad to realize that Dada will never don India colors ever again…But the most satisfying thing to happen was he went out like a man in charge of his life, on his very own terms…finally!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Right through his career, Saurav Ganguly has had to bite his finger nails thanks to the tension created by the team management, the media, e-Chappel and sometimes his own bad luck and form!! But looking back now, it seems like the ‘God of the Off-side’ has fought it all pretty well…bravo! ๐Ÿ˜€

Being in office all day long, I could not watch his final day on the cricket field. But I did find time to take a look at the highlights…and I was overwhelmed by the fact that Dhoni actually handed over the charge of captaincy to Dada over the last hour of the match…it was an emotional moment for Dada and the spectators, and the Aussies were anyways crying!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Given the opportunity, the Prince of Bengal set his field like a man with a mission…the batsman was suddenly surrounded by a fortress of fielders and there was no chance for him to stay there longer but get out!! The Bengal tiger had his last pound of flesh!! As a matter of fact, it was this day 8 yrs ago that Dada took to field for the first time as Indian Captain!! ๐Ÿ˜€

This is just a small tribute to the man who made us love the off-side…He will always be remembered for his shirt waving on the balcony of Lords uttering the choicest of words…a man with an aggression to love for, and an attitude we can only envy!! ๐Ÿ˜€

May your kind’s emerge! Amen…
Have a wonderful post-retired life Dada…Ami tomake bhalobashi! ๐Ÿ˜€

Of RGV, Web2.0, MIB-Cricket and Sun-Sign Predictions!!;)

Ram Gopal Verma (RGV) is back with his new movie “Phoonk” which got released last friday…Last heard (with RGV, you never know! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ), it’s a movie about superstitions and is supposedly under the “Horror” genre of movies. Being the creative one, RGV promised to pay Rs. 5 lakh (500,000) as a prize to that person who would watch Phoonk in a theatre ‘ALL ALONE’. As per RGV, Phoonk is a horror movie of the kind that will-for-sure get on to the nerves and hence he threw open this challenge which ended on 18th August. One brave soul took up this challenge and is believed to have come out of the theatre in half an hour flat.

Now the question is, was Phoonk that scaringly spooky or was it simply unbearable (remember RGV’s Aag?? ๐Ÿ˜› )???? YOU NEVER KNOW…If anyone among you have taken up the challenge to even watch Phoonk, Let me know your thoughts!! ๐Ÿ™‚

BTW, heard that another brave soul in Bangalore has decided to watch Phoonk tonight at 10 all alone at INOX and he has booked the entire 225+ seater for himself by paying close to INR 48K!! All the best to him, and to RGV too…hehe!! ๐Ÿ˜‰
I have not watched this movie yet (and don’t know if I will) but I certainly won’t be watching it alone, like I did the last time with RGV’s Sarkar Raj!! Period. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

What the Newspaper Article made me aware this weekend:

Web2.0 or the social networking/user-generated content era is the latest to take over the virtual world. But do we have the Cyber law to curb the misuse of the technology?
The article gave an example (most probably, a real one) of a teen gal getting to know a guy online through one or more of the various social networking mediums (mostly Chat sites) and then how she unsuspectedly gets entangled into the trap of sexual predators which finally leads/forces her to commit suicide.

Questions asked were:
1) Should not our lawmakers analyse the impact Web2.0 has on society and prescribe educational programmes for teenagers as well as educate individuals, mainly the teachers and parents of teenagers about the possible dangers of social networking?
2) Do we have a legal system to deliver justice to people like the teen gal in the above said instance or even to book the guy?

What’s your take on this?

On one side, we see and experience the many advantages that Web2.0 has to offer us to build and maintain a social network, but on the other side, we have certain elements which bug the entire possibility of a clean virtual environment.
Now with the social interaction going to be boosted up soon with the arrival of Web3.0, I guess its time for the law makers to put the laws into ‘real’ action.!!

What are the Indian Cricketers up to?? Man…they seem to be so confused with the whole process of playing cricket of different formats. With T20 totals in One-day matches and One-day totals in Test Matches, they seem to be heading no where. Moreover the fear factor in them about the tactics of the Lankan spin duo of Mendis and Murali seems to be reaching greater heights match after match. No idea what happened to the idea of Indians being better players of spin bowling!! Sigh!

Theย Men-In-Blue (MIB) are known to make heroes out of puppets…Remember the West Indian Franklin Rose? That chap got hammered and clobbered around the park at the hands of other teams whereas he came up with a 5-wkt-haul, each time he played against us. Ok…Remember Aaqib Javed, the Pakistani speedstar?? He was specially played only against the Indians and each time we didn’t disappoint the Pakistani selectors as we gifted him a bunch of wickets just like in a promised package deal! ๐Ÿ˜‰
The list continues…and so does the ‘fear factor’ of our well-nourished, well-branded and well-advertised cricketers. Hmmph!

*************************************************************************************

I have always been a Taurean, I have always read the sun-sign predictions and I have been amazed by the indifferences between what is on paper and what actually happens, always.

Check this out…this was last Saturday:
1) Good day to share work and responsibility with your peers: Sadly such things are said about me only on weekends! ๐Ÿ˜‰
2) Accidental benefits are indicated: I didn’t understand this clearly until a bus just whisked past the car when I was driving…My Dad who was in the front seat, yelled (am still not sure, it was at me or the bus driver!!) though this wasn’t indicated!! ๐Ÿ˜€
3) Your love life will be good: Ahem…he didn’t know I was single, did he? Hmmph! ๐Ÿ˜ณ
4) Don’t give into emotional pressures when making financial decisions: Early morning as I reached Bangalore, my cousin called up to remind me of the pending treat I had to give him! I have been evading him for more than 2 months, but the emotions finally got over me and I agreed to his request. So Sue’s Garden (A Caribbeanย Restaurant in Indiranagar, Bangalore) it is for lunch on Sunday…Ms. Sue, here we come! ๐Ÿ˜€
