[Bakwaas]~Of Bobby Romeo, Rakhi Sawant & Salwaar Kameez! ;)

The signs were evident with the incessant power cuts, phase after phase leading to the eventual black out but unfortunately I didn’t even bother to make a wild guess. And then the eventual happened. SHE CALLED.

Me: “Hello”
She (crying): “Woh sab chodo…you know what happened? This always happens with me!”
Me (not recognizing the voice): “But who…”
She (still crying): “Woh sab chodo…he ran away with my Salwaar Kameez…haiii Jeeeejuussss, kameena dupatta bhi le gaya…”
Sitting in a candle lit, otherwise pitch dark room – I was shocked to realize this female still had my number. I realized who was calling but not being a keen TV enthusiast, I was blank about whom she was referring to!
Regaining my senses, I said “Arree…Rakhiiii…longgg timeee….how have you been?”
She (giggling amidst cries): “Woh sab chodo…you recognized my voice, abba…wahich bahut mereko!”
Me: “So tell me what happened? Who stole your well…clothes?”
Rakhi: “That Baba…what eez his name? Romeo…he stole my favorite white salwaar kameez…”
Me: “Hmm hmm…well…I’m not aware of what is happening around the world. My world is dark out here.”
Rakhi: “Woh sab chodo… I like to wear it in rain you know…men find it appealing. Bappi da and even Captain finds it hard to resist down south!”
Me: “Errr…ok…but, what do you want me to do?”
Rakhi: “Woh sab chodo…you just listen to me no…this Romeo Baba even took the dupatta along. Why would a man need it?”
Me: “I don’t know…how would I know? Maybe to cover his face or in the worst of cases wipe his sweat!!”
Rakhi: “So don’t you think he’s acting weird? No doubt he is a pervert shameless enough to steal my best clothes. I need to do something about this. Help me no?”
Me: “Help and me? 🙄 How? Well, the trend these days is to go on fast till your demand is met!”
Rakhi: “Wow…so you mean to say that I need to go on fast too? Am I not sleek enough?”
Me: “Well to say the truth, err…actually I don’t know what you should do or not do. But I’m just throwing in some wild guesses!”
Rakhi: “That’s it. I’m going to fast…till my demands are met. I need a white salwaar kameez with dupatta, same as the one Baba Romeo stole but ewwww not the same one! Hmm…”
Me: “Hmm…well…”
Rakhi: “Woh sab chodo…bbye…see me later on TV!”

Huh…anyway, I was relieved that no harm was done to me except for the fact that my ear drums were paining! On checking out what the fuss was all about, I found a certain Baba Ramdev in the avatar of Bobby Romeo, what with Salwaar Kameez on. With the opposition parties backing him up and the Government as well as the cops and the special task forces behind him, this country is definitely going to dogs!
In short, Jeeejuuussssssssssss! 😀

[Indian 60th Republic Day]~ Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumhara! :)

As the Indian Republic attains its senior citizenship in the world today, Times of India in association with Zoom TV and a few more sponsors bring back to us, the song which had touched most of our hearts in the late 80s. Old wine in a new bottle, but to suit the taste of today’s generation… 🙂

In 1988, what Dr. Bhimsen Joshi did for Prasar Bharati in bringing out “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” on DoorDarshan (DD), Louis Banks does the same in 2010 for Zoom….Titled “Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumhara”, it retains its old classic touch while showcasing the icons of today’s generation. Only Amitabh Bachchan seems to be ageless, being the only icon to be retained from the DD version into in this latest one. The number of icons in the new version have gone beyond 60 while the older version had only 26 of them.

The song basically talks about how unity in diversity, can do wonders…and India being a place, where ‘n’ number of languages and ‘n+1’ number of diversified people stay together – this song, must say that it did its bit in getting people together!! 😀

You can watch the old DD version HERE.

And you can watch the promo of the new version as well, over HERE.

Celebrating Incredible India…Happy 60th Indian Republic Day!! 😀

Jai Hind!! 😀

[Travelogue]~The DNIT – 5 (New Delhi)! :)

As we packed our bags past midnight we knew we had not much time to sleep. The Gareeb Rath (Poor man’s chariot) to New Delhi was scheduled to leave Amritsar sharp at 4:50 am!! Even then, we slept keeping a series of alarm every 15 mins with the first one set at 3 am. We were finally all up by 3:30 and reached the railway station by 4:15am right on time to dump our luggage (which was now 14 in number) into the coach and get a cup of chai.

As the train started on time, I dunno what others did cos I had already climbed up to the upper berth and gone to continue from where I had left…sleeeep… 😀

Btw, if you haven’t read the previous two posts in this series you can read them HERE!!

Left Amritsar: 26th Dec’09 4:50am – Gareeb Rath
Reached New Delhi: 26th Dec’09 11:30am
Weather: Cool (8-10 deg) but having got used to the chill weather for the last 7-8 days, we found it warm!! 😉

The accomodation at Delhi was free of cost, courtesy the company of my friend’s dad…and the 3-BHK guest house was located in South Delhi at Greater Kailash-II.
It is at this place, where we got to see why someone’s called “stinking rich”!! If not every house, 99% of the houses had a minimum of 3 cars with the least priced one being a Mercedes…else it was either a BMW or Bentley or Audi…we heaved a sigh of a relief when we got to see a Santro parked…Btw, we roamed around that locality in a black n yellow painted Ambassador!! 😉

On to the pics,

By the time we reached to see Qutub Minar, it was already late evening.

The entire area where the Qutub Minar stands was lit here and there in various colors, which gave the whole area a very semi-vibrant look!!

On the second day, we went to the Humayum’s tomb which is an area that’s now under the Archaeological society of India and was very well maintained…

Inside Humayum’s tomb – Under one of this, lies Humayum…not sure which one…didnt find any board in English/Hindi…

Humayum would have been a man who loved his barber (no, not that way)…his barber’s tomb is also a huge dome structure in the same compound…The above is the writing in Arabic (or is that Urdu) over Humayum’s barber’s tomb.

Before going to the Lotus Temple, we had been to the Akshardham Temple….It was breath-takingly beautiful but no photography is allowed inside the temple…and nothing much is seen from the outside…
Lotus Temple is a place of worship of the Baha’is. Beautiful and peaceful.

This Birdy – the king of the skies – was shot at the Lotus Temple while it had perched on one of the huge focus lights!! 🙂

And finally as our journey came to an end, we closed it off with visit to the India Gate – a memorial to the lost lives of our soldiers.

Thank you one and all.  With this post, ends the series of travelogue of my DNIT!! 🙂

[Travelogue]~The DNIT – 4 (Amritsar)! :)

We were looking forward to our touching base at Amritsar…mainly for two reasons…one, the Golden Temple and two, the cold weather which was expected to be around zero degree centigrade.

Since we were not able to get our tickets booked in 3AC, we took the risk of booking in sleeper class for the night journey to Amritsar from Haridwar. Thankfully, Haridwar was a starting point for the train and so the compartments were clean. And this time, the windows closed with very minimum air gap.

Btw, if you haven’t read the previous two posts in this series you can read them HERE!! 😀

Left Haridwar: 24th Dec’09 9:40pm
Reached Amritsar: 25th Dec’09 8:30am
Weather: COLD!! It was around 2-3 degrees when we reached and went max low upto -1 deg. 😀

We had booked a hotel…through my friend’s dad…it kinda happened to be a star hotel but then the rates surprised us. 🙂 It was 2-3 kms from the Golden Temple to which autos plyed us to and fro for 50 bucks one way.
Though we didnt find the authentic roadside dhaba, we managed to have lunch and dinner in the dhaba’s – with glass full of lassi’s ofcourse!! 😛

Chalo, moving to the pics. 🙂

We first went to the Jallianwala Bhag (then a park, now a memorial) which is like 300-400 mts away from the Golden Temple. This was where thousands of Indians were shot at, on the orders of General Dyer in the year 1919. The above pic is of a painting on display in the small museum at the memorial.

This structure is a memorial built later, remembering all the lives that were lost on that fateful evening.

There is also Amar Jyothi, a flame lit at the memorial…

We went to the Golden Temple twice altogether….this one was shot in the morning…though its bright, the temperature wasn’t more than 4 degree celsius. The insides of the temple, was heavenly and peaceful inspite of a huge crowd. We are supposed to cover our hair/head when we enter the temple area…

The Temple pond, had huge and beautiful fishes…in the above pic, you can see one of our catch!! 😉

We started off to Wagah (Indo-Pak) Border around 3pm (which was late…if you are going, pls start by 2pm atleast) and reached there by 3:45pm only to find a huge crowd that had reached well before us. You can see the Indian gate with a soldier at the top…this shot was taken past 5:30pm – Flag has been lowered and taken off the pole, if you observe.

You can see the crowd….I took this pic standing on a arch…far off is the Pakistani Gate..We were about 2000+ people on our side of the border while there were hardly 300-400 people on the other side!!

This was taken by my friend…You can see me standing/hanging on the arch to get a better view!! 😉

We got to witness the crossing of the Lahore bounded bus from Delhi…There were happy cheers and local whistles as the bus crossed into Pakistani territory. 😀

On return back from the Wagah Border, we went back again to the Golden Temple…to enjoy its glory in darkness!! 🙂 You can see me all bloated….I was in 5 layers of clothing!! 🙂

Well to bore you guys, there’s me again….which one? Take your pick!! 😛

We stayed at the Golden Temple till about 11pm before returning back to the hotel as we had to catch an early morning train to Delhi…more on that, in the last post of this series (I know I know…at last!! 😛 )!! 😀

News…in and around this mind!

What’s come with the dawn of this New year? Nothing seems to be working the right way around here…nothing wrong so far on the personal front (oh there’s one! ya ya…ek hey)…but the over-all situation is so messy!

All of you must be knowing about the Satyam fiasco…as they say its common knowledge now!
I am in awe of that Raju dude…How could he cover up such a thingy for such a long time?? Man!! I can’t hide a thing, thanks to my blabbering mind and open mouth (or is it the other way round? :P)!!
Waise, on the serious note I would like Satyam to fight back from the dust. I even bought some shares off the sensex!! Anyways this long term investor in me is nowhere near the ‘Go Green’ campaign as far as Sensex is concerned. So as of now, loss added to loss is profit! 😉

badtimes

Infosys was one company I adored for their values, ethics and other things like the backgrounds of thier management team,  for providing employment to almost a lakh of people, et al…but they disappointed me yesterday when they issued a statement stating that they wouldn’t like to hire any of the Satyam Staffers…
Wonder why the employees in the lower pyramid bear the brunt for what the people in power at the top did? I bet Infosys wouldn’t mind taking the deals (from clients) which Satyam had served so far…
You see the drift and all that?

Though Indo-Pak have cut all sporting ties for the time being, the blame game seems to still rule the roost! I think we need to place a converter (Electronic pundits know what I mean) between these 2 countries whenever dialogues and bhashans are delivered against between them…only then will they get to hear what they wanna hear! 😀

Now for that “ek hey” personal one…
I have a new roommate…he shares the rent unlike Jerry, but thats exactly where all the likeness ends. We had been searching for a roomy since 2-3 months and finally this guy called in. He was about 7-9 years our senior and works in the same organization as I do. No, he being senior doesnt matter to us, else we wouldn’t have let him in…in the first place. What irks us is his trying to be young, cool and all that. “An ambassador no matter you install a ferrari engine, is still an ambassdor to us“. Now this ambassador of ours shakes his head to whatever we hear as music…thats fine…but he expects us to shake our head when he watches Ramayan and Mahabharat on TV (I hate that NDTV good times channel for showing Mythologies whenever he wants them)!! The worst thing is that…he smiles everytime you look at him and you are expected to return the compliments. Sigh…my face muscles are no more flexible without sensing pain!! I can write a book on him, but I bet you got the gist!
Pray for me! Else you would get to see Mythological posts here!! 😉

There was some good news to cheer up for the filmi folks…Ghajini garnered 200 crores profit in 2 weeks…man! Even the original (Momento) and the Indian Original (in Tamil) didn’t get to do that much moolah I guess…Hats of the star value of Aamir Khan and the Marketting team!! 🙂
If you ask me, the Tamil version was better and Momento was even better…after-all the essence lies in the original. But who will ask me? The money talks after all…so be it! Sigh!!

We as humans have so many unsolved problems ourselves…but we do like to take up other inhumane challenges too! Why else would we worry about if or not the comic character TinTin is Gay or at bay?? He was first pulled into the racist controversy but let off cause they just couldnt get hold of him for detention! And now into this….but the thing is, he feels no pain! Thats the best part of being a comic character I guess!! 😛
So to all the animated morons out there, back off and LET HIM BE WHATEVER HE WANTS TO BE! Hmmph!!

There are some more things on the mind which I wanna share here…but I feel that a lengthy post is after-all not so healthy dost!! 😉

All in the NEWS…and more! ;)

Disclaimer: All I have written down could make sense to those who have it in them…These could be facts, imaginations, expectations and every form of nonsense. If you are a Pakistani, NO I cannot give you any proof for anything written here…

1) The only thing to happen since the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai, is NOTHING!
Pakistan needs proof when their own soldier says he’s from that damn country out of which India was born or got its independence in 1947 (You won’t believe? Read the social studies syllabus of 2nd to 8th grade text books that the kids read there!!)!! The proof that India gave is not credible…what the pak!!!
Our Next Try: Write whatever we want them to read and understand, from right to left…

2) Delhi, the capital of India is being tarnished due to 2 things (which I want to point out)…
One…is the political scenario…they simply can’t take decisions…When our respected PM talks in that feminine tone, we laugh…just imagine how greener the enemy camp could get giggling to glory!
Mr. PM, stop throwing flowers at your Pak counterparts to see if it hurts them…Take a decision and stop requesting!! Remember you are a nuclear power now…why bend and get screwed by a nation where terrorism is a state policy?
Our Next Try: If not war and nuclear…atleast export Antrax, HIV, Smallpox, Chikungunya, Mayawati, Naqvi and all such good viruses to them as a token of peace!
Two…is the behavior of testosterone driven males…stop abducting and raping helpless young women you a**hole* (‘s’ doesn’t work in my keyboard, sometimes…)!! Maa-behen nahin hey kya?
Our Next Try: To castrate each offender and send them to our favorite neighboring country…Pak!! 🙂

3) I couldn’t wait for “Slumdog Millionaire” to release in India after reading one awesome review after other about how good the movie is, in the various corporate blogs! I searched for a torrent, got one with a good print (a small 4MB sample was given to check the print) and downloaded it…Watched it the very moment it was downloaded and ready!! And you know what…
I simply loved it….the hype did make sense. The concept, the screenplay, the background music, the acting, the fast pace – each of it was awesome! Do watch it….after it releases in India on 23rd of this month or before that!!! 🙂
Our Next Try: To release a movie having “India” in it as central topic/matter, FIRST IN INDIA!! Sigh!

4) Whatever movie stars do, becomes the talk of the town…
Abhishek Bachchan had a haircut…and now the hottest question in the media is – “Do you like AB Baby’s new haircut?” – if you ask me, he looked GAY!!

ab-baby Waise…I heard of an interesting masala with respect to the Bachchan Family…
I got to hear that: Amitabh is a Casanova…Aishwarya (like Rekha before) is his “keep”…Jaya is a drug-addict (Ah! our respectable RajyaSabha member)…and AB baby is GAY with a Spanish (or wherever) boyfriend (yes, AB baby is the GF in the relationship – Now dont you feel he was so natural in his Dostana role?)!! Now I don’t know if its true/false/no-comments…but a reply-comment from any of these 4 or Amar Singh (Jaya runs to him when high, is another angle ;)) would be considered valid. Even from the Spanish DUDE would be accepted! 😀
Our Next Try: To not make these filmi people, our idols and role models…

5) God knows whats happened to Australia…the way they are playing, even Bangladesh and Zimbabwe could fancy their chances!! Maites, whats up? why so down and under?
The South Africans are beating them black and blue…giving credits to India for being an inspiration (the 2001 Australian tour of India…remember the Kolkata test match?) and thus screwing the Maites mentally too!! 😀
Our Next Try: To educate the Australians that they should play on the cricket field and not try to analyse the similarity between Maa-ki and Monkey!! Its not the same Maite!!

😀

DD news used to end with weather report…So well…Lemme also try predicting…

Weather is hot…What with Deepika celebrating her 23rd birthday and our Hot Bipasha didi celebrating her 30th one!!  😉

Samaachar samaapth…Namaskar!! 😀
