Yeah…finally I did get to see Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (JTYJN) at this Sunday matinee. I just got 3 words to say “I loved it”!! 😀
This can be (but should not be) taken as a review…or (and) can simply be considered as a write-up about something I had been impatiently waiting to watch since over a fortnight. Initially it was a struggle to get the tickets and then it was the excitement of the last minute wait…and finally it was pleasure of reaching the theatre half an hour prior to the start and again impatiently waiting for a friend to arrive (inspite of his informing that he would be there in 5 minutes time, it seemed eternity). So finally at 2:45 pm, the five of us were inside the theatre loaded with popcorns, fountain coke, puffs and something-the-name-of-which-I-forgot 😛 and were cracking pathetic jokes (all out of uncontrollable excitement I guess) just to push time till 3pm, the show-time!! 🙂
And suddenly we fell silent as the credits were being shown and then it was just magic. 😉
Aditi (Genelia) and Jai (Imraan) were introduced in a manner what could be called as a “cliched” loss of a dear Radha!! One of my senti friend almost started to sob (initially she did warn about her sensitivity meter, but didn’t guess it would be this sensitive) but laughed out loud when she got to know that Radha was after-all a cat…the PETA ppl could take this as an opportunity to sue her for laughing loud over at a cat’s death. 😛
Then suddenly the songs come one after the other…was it only me who felt so…I felt that the songs were packed and played one behind the other…anyways, never mind. “Kabhi Kabhi Aditi….” was shot beautifully…with Aditi not looking at her best (when compared to rest of the movie), maybe cos this song was supposed to cheer her up…anyways, post this song she was mirror-cracking! 😀
From my female friend’s point of view, Imraan was cute (nah…cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuttttteeeeeeee is what she had said!!)…danced as a college student should…behaved decent…and at the end (if not throughout the movie) was brave enough to defend the love of his life. I had to talk about Imraam from her views, as I was busy admiring Aditi!! Sigh!
I loved the roles of Rathna Pathak Shah (Jai’s mom) and Naseeruddin Shah (Jai’s deceased dad….he’s got a cameo role…same costume, and talks out of photo frame…just like the late Priya Tendulkar did in the Zee TV series “Hum Paanch”)!!! Rathna was mindblowing and she essayed her role of a cautious mom and a social activist (I think!!) perfectly to the brim. 😀
Genelia and Imraan were cool in their respective roles…Pratiek Babbar who plays Amit too has done justice to his role as a nerdy brother of Aditi!! Sohail and Arbaaz Khan play cameo’s which seemed to be forced into the movie just to make it more comical…we need to tickle ourselves to feel so though!! 😉
I liked the nicknames of Ratz (for Jai) and Meow (for Aditi)…Meow reminded me of someone I refer to by that name!! 😉
Manjari has portrayed her part as Meghana pretty well!! At one point in the movie, she seemed to be like the main heroine, as she was in every other scene…she also gets to do the ultimate sacrifice in the end by letting go of Jai….that made me feel she was infact the lead heroine…but I guess, the one who gets to take the cake, gets to lick the cream!! 😀
The set of friends Aditi and Jai had were simply awesome…I loved Jignes(h) the best among all…he himself inviting his friends for his surprise birthday party was hilarious…so was his gujju accented Hindi!! 😀
The other seriously hilarious part is when their friend, whom they call Rondhu (who had hearts for Aditi) sees Aditi and Jai together and ends up at the bar asking for coca-cola…and that too “on the rocks” for the first gulp (peg) and then a stronger second peg!! And the bartendar says “Sambhalo apne aap ko” or something, or did I just imagine it? Anyways, we laughed like crazy over it!! 😉
The storyline I felt was cliched…could remember Kuch Kuch Hota Hey…but it were the songs and the awesome music by AR Rahman, that kept the mood upbeat throughout the movie…the song “Jaane tu mera kya hey…” sung by Sukhwinder is not a part of the movie and was thoroughly missed!! 😦
Overall, a pleasant experience to watch with either family or friends…its simply awesome…I don’t wanna spoil the fun by rating the movie…Just wanna say, I am really obsessed by Aditi just as much or actually a little more than my female friends were smitten by Imraan!! 😛
Go watch it if you still haven’t… 😀

As of now I am very excited…its weekend fever yes, but the main fact is that I managed to get hold of tickets for the movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (JTYJN) for this Sunday matinee…2 days of struggle, sweat and frustrations being now moulded into excitement, happiness and eager-wait!! 😀
If not like normal mortals, at least we managed to get tickets at Sathyam Cinemas through the backdoor. A dear friend managed to get hold of tickets for me and my friends, through some known face in the Sathyam Management. So much for the frustration and hue-cry I demonstrated here 3 days ago. So Sunday matinee it’s gonna be, and its the show thats now in the waiting…
Another reason for excitement is the review that is coming in from different quarters, known and unknown. Websites and discussion forums have already given a rating of 4 out of 5…and when my friend who went for yesterday’s night show at Mayajaal threathened to spoil my excitement by saying “I will message you the story in brief”, I requested (read: pleaded) her to just send me a good/bad one-word message once the movie gets over. Half an hour ago, I got “Awesome :)” as her message.
Aditi…Here I come…meet you on Sunday!! 😀
Since last two weeks I had been waiting for this day to arrive…cos it was today early morning that the tickets to the movie, Jaane tu ya jaane na was supposed to be opened for sale. So as yesterday’s night extended into the early hours of today I was logged into the websites of two “famous” multiplexes of Chennai….Sathyam Cinemas and Inox Movies. Both disappointed me in their own stupid ways. 😦
I was awake till 1:00 am waiting for some miracle to happen and for the schedule to be opened for online booking. I went to sleep, when there were no signs of any upgradation on any of these sites.
I was up again early in the morning…and logged into these damn stupid websites. Sathyam and Inox didn’t actually deserve, me doing all this at the cost of my early morning sleep!! Sickos! 😈
The morning newspaper carried advertisements from both Sathyam Cinemas and Inox Movies which had them saying “Booking open” and we were either asked to choose one of the three methods:
1) Book online
2) Book by calling their numbers
3) Book by SMS
And this is what I got when I checked the 2 multiplexes at 8:30am.
1) Book online – The site was up fast but there were no schedules from 4th July onwards.
2) Book by calling their numbers – Network was busy…but when it rang, no one picked.
3) Book by SMS – I got a reply SMS saying it didn’t recognise the movie. And it took me 2 msgs to get to know this. It was not toll-free.
1) Book online – The site was super fast but there were no shows 4th onwards when it came to Chennai.
2) Book by calling their numbers – Got to hear a network connection failure message each time I tried.
3) Book by SMS – No reply…sent twice…no replies both times…fukced my phone bill again for nothing!
On reaching office, we thankfully had no access to these websites (who wants to see the missing schedules the whole day?)…kept calling unsucessfully both the Sathyam and Inox phone numbers till evening. One blessed soul in Inox picked the call and informed us that online booking would start 6pm onwards (it normally would be 7pm by the time I reach home) but tickets were sold out by the time I checked the site at 6:45pm on reaching home early. Damn!!
Got to know from a friend that tickets at Sathyam, were all sold out for Saturday without them having turned-on the online booking feature. Psychos! Its scheduled now, but what’s the point? 😦
Sathyam boasts of its online booking system….but it gets laid and screwed up when in demand. Where and how does it become housefull without a single soul having booked it? I won’t be surprised tomorrow if I would get to lay my hands on one of the booked tickets. 😛
Sathyam guys, go to hell!! You suck big time!! iilii
I believe its High Time for other multiplexes to come up…the monotonous hold that these nuts enjoy, has to be broken!!! Hmmph!
I do get obsessed with certain things…yeah, that makes me happy with a feeling of being human enuf! 😉
The latest obsession is the song called “Kabhi kabhi Aditi zindagi mein koi apna lagta hey…” for which the music is rendered by maestro A R Rahman, from the yet-to-be-released movie ‘Jaane tu ya jaane na’ starring Aamir Khan’s nephew Imran Khan and the lovely and hot Genelia D’Souza! I simply love her smile! 😀
Anyways…Coming back to the matter…
I am just not able to get over that song…I first got to know about it from a friend…damn him… got to know just two lines of lyrics of that song…which vaguely meant something like “there’s no point to worry…cos after every dark night, comes a bright morning”!! I was bowled over by it…such small things give immense pleasure to the mind! 🙂
And it was last Thursday that I downloaded that song…Listened to it about 40 times and yet the mind didn’t want me to stop playing it! 😀
Friday, I was on my way home to Bangalore by my colleague’s car…I had burnt a new CD with songs in the MP3 format…And I waited for a whole 62 songs to end, for this one to come up (didn’t know that the songs had got burnt as per alphabetical order)…This song was at #63…and by that time we had already reached Hosur. It was about 6pm. Thanks to the traffic jam on Hosur Road, the CD player in the car got tired to play the song #63 for close to infinity times!! I didn’t count then…but since its a song of 3 minutes and 41 seconds and since we were stuck on Hosur Road for close to 2 hours, simple calculations say that I played it back to back for about 33 times…yes again! I reached home by 10pm that night and post dinner loaded that song into my MP3 player! And then it was complete bliss….for about an hour or so. 😛
Saturday was a rest day as far as morning to evening was concerned…Reason being my going out to meet a friend who had come down on vacation from far away London…I came back home by 9pm and plugged myself to that song again for close to about 30 mins before my mom bribed me to stop by offering dinner! 😛
Sunday was no different…morning to evening, about 10 times…so less cos I was travelling most of the time with my parents and cousin! They made me change the song…but still I played it once each after 2 songs, with them not knowing! 😉 And later I made up for the day’s quota after I settled on the train back to Chennai at night! It was one song that I didn’t want to end. The battery had to die out for me to forcibly give it up! Sheesh!
Now I am back from office and as I write this, I think this could be easily the 30th time that this song is playing…cos its running since close to 2 hours on the Winamp! 😛
My roommate poked my back 10 mins ago asking if he could use the system, and pat came a reply from me “Can I listen to this one song? I’ll give it to you after it gets over!”!! He’ll be back soon again to poke at me! Let me sign off…damn me and my obsession for this song! lolz…
Next time I’ll be back to talk on another of my damn obsessions…It’s nothing serious, but flirting! 😛 Hope I get to meet Aditi by then…if not, I’ll just call the gal (whoever she is, whatever her name is) Aditi! 😛
