Rants on a boring sunday evening! :)

Life’s been tough…some random rants on a boring sunday late evening!

1. MJ was buried without his brains…as a tribute, the journos decided not to use their brains too and were seen smiling/laughing/very-excited at his funeral! hmmph!

2. The last few weeks have been very disturbing…with friends and colleagues losing out on their jobs…Things look somewhat better now…has to get better, Amen! 🙂

3. The budget was cranky…nothing for the mortals like me…a saving of one grand could very well go if the erased FBT has to be borne by us, the employees! Sigh!

4. Had been home to Bangalore last weekend…got drenched in the Saturday noon showers…first time this year!! Yay!!! 🙂

5. Things haven’t changed much regarding my train travels…I happened to travel to-n-fro with a bunch of retired strangers. The only problem with travelling in the same compartment as them is that they switch-on the lights and switch-off the fan minimum 2 hours in advance to reaching the destination.

6 The only thing exciting about mondays…is that there are just 4 more days to go, for the weekend! 😉

7. The girls-next-door took our newspaper one morning. So we suspected. Investigations are being carried out. But am not able to decide: Shall I knock their door or ring the door-bell? 😛

8. That Shoba De writes very well, is common knowledge…I especially like her articles when it’s in regards with man-woman relationships and sarcastic humor. She did a slap-stick about Shiney Ahuja’s next movie “Maid in India” in Sunday Times column – “Politically Incorrect”! 😀

9. Instead of being happy and satisfied at winning the T20 World Cup this year, Pakistan still has to point fingers at India. Shahid Afridi has said that India didn’t seem like they wanted to play Pakistan. He was right, cos we just wanted to win. (We won the warm up tie…and didnt get to face them again)!! Hmmph!

10.  The serial-kisser, Emraan Hashmi seems to have stopped doing the act on 72mm…but “Kissing On-screen” is the latest technique of promoting an Indian movie. In a country like India, where population crisis was never an issue – this seems to be ironic…but this strategy is definitely working awesome. 😀

11. Talking about political power misuse…the latest one is Mayawati who is setting up “Maya Nagari” spending thousands of crores of tax-payers money in the name of caste-politics. She happened to inaugrate 25 statues (of Late Kanshiram and herself) in 2 hours flat last week. I wish we were crows and pigeons, atleast we could take give them their dues! Hmmph!

12. This number adds to 3…my lucky number…I was born on the 21st…and the year after this is 2010…what’s in store for me? 😛

13. With the article 377 being set straight (what an irony), there were celebrations on the streets of Chennai and Bangalore…Will we get to see demands “for quota” and “for minority status” in the near future…I’ve nothing against, just stating the trend…

14. What has the world come to? Forget humans, even cartoons are not being spared. Intially there was hue and cry over Tintin’s homosexuality…and now it’s about Archie choosing Veronica over Betty! Atleast Archie chose a woman! The world isn’t happy over anything! Sigh!

15. My watchman wanted to secretly apply as a participant for Rakhi’s Swayamvar drama on Television…while his wife wanted her grandson to give a shot at making Rakhi her bahu. 😆

Nothing serious about it – 1

I have no particular topic to write on…I didn’t even find a photograph to cook a story on…hence this rant…no other reason…so bear with me! 😀

Oflate I have been writing poems as and when I felt like writing something inspite of having no topics at my disposal. Either I created a sad moody ambience in the vacuum space underneath my scalp wrote on the real sad situation that prevails in the island country at the south of India. Some of you guys have felt sad at my sadness while some understood the fact that I was just trying to make something out of nothing. Thanks to both the kinds of readers…your respective perspective keeps me thinking, and motivates me to pile on spam over here! 😀

Kaley Cuoco

Kids…this word makes me smile! I love them!
Times have changed, with the DNA’s having mutated big time…kids seem to grow up faster than they should, at least much faster than I did (did I? :P)…
When I was a kid, the moment the “Nirodh” Advertisement came on Doordarshan my dad/mom/whoever used to remind me to go inside and study even though I was enjoying my summer holidays! Poor guys didn’t have an option to change the channels.
As I came into my teens, it was payback time. I changed channels when different flavors of “Moods” were telecast while I was watching the idiot-box with my dad. He too had his own ways to deal with the situation…he picked up the newspaper, no matter it was today’s or even a decade old.
Kids I know, just one third of a dozen old in age…shout in hindi “Ab koi pareshani nahi” (Now there’s nothing to worry)…as the “Ipill” ad ends. Dunno where they get that from, cos there’s no such slogan in that advertisement. We all laugh at their innocence(??) but then, the times have actually changed! 🙂 Kids are kids no more! 😦

Its been a long time (7 months now) since I have written my favorite we-she-me poetry…Its normally during my train rides between Chennai and Bangalore do I pen down those, thanks to some inspiration in the nearby berths. I thought of writing one this past weekend when I was on the way back to Chennai. To my dismay, there were only men around in my coach…someone rightly said “serves you right” last night! Sigh! 😀

BTW, Chennai is getting hot and hotter day by day…being perennially hot, can Chennai be considered to be a “She”? 😛

PS: This post is labelled part-1 just to make you plead and comment ”pls don’t write such rubbish ever again”! 😀

PPS: In the above pic, its Ms.Kaley Cuoco – my lovely ‘Penny’ in the latest Sitcom, the geeky “Big Bang Theory”! 😀

Thinking Loud…

In the last few weeks, I have come to understand (read: digest) a few things we come to face in life:

tthink

1. It’s very easy to become a national figure in such a way that everyone gets to know you by name. All you have to do is, go to a pub and hit people – especially women – around.

2. It is ok if you consider the biggest corporate scam in recent times, a vehicle for the forthcoming elections. Once you get the votes from the employees, you can stop distributing the notes (read: salary).

3. It needs a western director to take an Indian story to Golden Globe, BAFTA and the Oscars.

4. It’s surprising that the lyricist in Gulzar can pen down lyrics of extreme variety when it comes to filmi songs…ranging from Oscar nominated ones (Jai ho) to the crappy Billu Barber ones.

5. It’s not easy to be an IT guy from native AP and work in the US. You can debugged from the code of life, for no concrete reasons whatsoever.

6. Hold on to what you have instead of going for something you wish to have. For instance, spend quality time and be nice to your friends instead of bootlicking your bosses all the time for a fast track growth.

7. Cost cutting makes one wise when it comes to expenditure. It helps you recognize and differentiate needs from the desires.

8. Variety in life helps. One, you never get bored. Two, you bore none. 😀

9. It’s a buyers market now. So do make wise but affordable investments. Do not prefer to the take the path of credit nor build great debts.

Of Page3, Mikaeel, Hitler and Mumbai!

When I read some of the news articles, I don’t know whether I should smile, laugh or just bang my head at some place! Those are the moments when the emotional juices get cocktailed within me and I end up not knowing how exactly to react. You may say, What the…ya say it common… 😀
But I do have my own reasons…picture these cases:

I The Single Sirens…
Recently on two different days, I read Page3 about the relationship status of two females who act in movies (can’t call them actresses, in any way)…these are the so called sirens or show stoppers in the movies that they act in.
Day 1 was about Kim Sharma (ya she’s the one who was in Mohabattein, but more famous for being Cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s mom’s naapasand!)…She gave a statement saying “I am happy to be single”…gimme a break lady…happy should be the one who is lucky enough not to be her boyfriend/date. She also says she’s busy working and travelling…haha…whatta joke…busy with what (never heard of her being in any of the movies)…and travelling where?? to Malgudi?? 😈
Day 2 was about our very slim south Indian bombshell Namitha…out of no where, she announces that she’s single…till then, she was fixed on “I am not seeing any guy”…now that she is single, my mind tickles with the query as to “was she dating gals then??”!! Anything said and done, my roommate was happy that she was now available…I think its high time for him to realize that he’s not of the gender that she prefers. This is me and my perception! 😉

II The “Thriller” Conversion…
As the economy shook and there were turmoils happening all over the world, our Micheal “thriller” Jackson took to Islam and accepted the name of one of Allah’s angels – Mikaeel. Nothing wrong in this, as he first understood the religion – saw how his brother Jermaine Friday (who convereted to Islam in 1989) fared – and then one fine morning/noon/evening in this very month of November’08, he converted with the help of an Imam. Hope he now gets to understand the difference that exists between black, white and kids…
The popular sms doing the rounds on this – Why did Michael get converted to Islam? Well, it maybe to have a real reason for him to wear a Burkha to cover his face.
He’s loved women. He’s loved kids. So I would say, this conversion is much better than his going gay…with Micheal you never know! 😉

III ONE and only ONE…
Ah! Another one I just remembered reading was on Adolf Hitler, the German dictator. It seems he had just one nut down there, and the article that I read was about how some people (scientists and historians if I am not wrong) were actually elated and at joy proving this theory (so far) true. They proved the autopsy report right, based on one of the writings of Hitler’s doctor who had examined him pants down. In the write-up, the doctor seemingly amazed by his discovery wrote a whole page about something that wasn’t there!! Phew! 😛
For more on this, you can CHECK HERE!

This write up was to divert my mind of the various other life taking incidents that have happened in India in the past week:
1) Deep condolences from the bottom of my heart for all those lives lost in the worst terrorist attack that India faced at Mumbai for the last three days…
2) Kudos to the ATS personnel, NSG commandos and the Cops who fought the terrorists to save hundred of lives without worrying about their own safety.
3) Salutes to those individuals who sacrificed their lives in the process.

And ya…how can I forget to wish these…
i) Right Middle finger to the cowards who created this chaos and thought they would go back alive!
ii) Left Middle finger to Raj Thackeray (where the hell was he?? talks about Mumbai Nirman and stuff saala) and all those speech delivering politicians who didn’t waste time to gain some political mileage!

By the way, the cyclone “Nisha” which took over 50 lives and disturbed the living lot in here at Chennai seems to be over for now. Though there are intermitent rains, its all ok my friends!! 😀

Rants of an Eligible Bachelor! :)

eligible_bachelor

Well…I was back on wednesday morning…but then tiredness, body-ache and work too priority before getting back to this online den of mine!! 🙂

It had been a good long weekend…I set out on friday night in a train to Mangalore and as expected found myself amidst a gang of 65+ yr old men and women…I suddenly had this feeling of being on my way to Amarnath, Vaishnodevi, Kashi, Haridwar or some other pilgrimage place…it was just an instant feeling!! 😉
The worst thing about being in the company of the senior citizens in a train is that they switch off the lights when its 10pm and in most cases also switch off the godforsaken fans citing cold as the reason…since they get air from the window peeps, the ones (like me) on the upper berth are gone for a toss. The best thing about being in their company is that I get to eat whatever they offer as well as I get some time for myself (else I would spend that time checking out the PYTs)!! 😀

I checked the chart before boarding the train…there was a 24 F who was supposed to board the train from Palghat in the morning and get down at Cannanore…a 2 hour 30 mins ride for the chick…but sadly when I opened my eyes, it was 11am…all I did was sleep more! Sigh!

As I approached closer to Mangalore, I got down from my berth and looked outside the window and at the Payanur station found a yellow banner reading “Self volunteering for Vasectomy is good for your own Health, your state Kerala and our country India” in white paint…What the…I mean, of all things…I guess since mostly older men travel (they do whenever I do, at least) on this route, this banner was at the right place!! 😉

The wedding and all the rituals went by peacefully…and my dear friends, your friend (ya me…aur kaun) has now become the most eligible one from both his maternal and paternal side.!!! Being the first grandchild on my mom’s side, I was born eligible…lol…and it took me 25 yrs and almost 7 months to become eligible from my dad’s side (blame my late grand-dad for all that targets he achieved with my grandma…may god bless his soul)!! Phew…

The return journey back to Chennai was no sweeter…though I came via Bangalore and hence boarded 2 trains on 2 consecutive nights, my luck remained the same…just plain, simple and hard!! 😦

Wednesday was busy….I didnt even realise as to how it went by…The only time I took to relax was to get done with the dreaded photo shoot for my office ID card!! It took him 3 shots to kill…err…get my pic right! First click, he said “Sir, is it ok if i click you without your spectacles? They reflect…blah blah”….Second Click, “Sir you have tilted your head to the right…one more pls”…and he adjusted my head by tilting it to my left…and clicked the third successful one…
If you ask me, the problem was with him cos when he clicked he tilted to his right side and always set his object tilted to their left!! Classic case of “Finding faults in others is easy”!! 😀

Today it was terrible…I goofed up at work…Did some financial postings which I wasn’t supposed to do…But I did!! Sat the whole noon reversing all the mess I had done…and in the evening client call, I explained the mishap and got off the hook! Phew…

At home here, I had planted the rat kill bait for Jerry…seems like he was happy to eat it and go…only to return after 5 days…May be he got admitted to a hospital with tummy ache after eating that!! Damn that product from Mortein…Jerry might now be immune to such baits!! Sheesh!!

Well so far, its all gone good…
Had round dosas now as food…
I simply love my bachelorhood…
Eligibilty now adds a little bit of attitude!! 😉

Rants of a Vegetarian Butcher!! ;)

Mind had been blank for the last couple of days and hence I was finding it difficult to write or compose something down just for the mere lack of ideas…thought I will pick some tag that’s lying in many of the blogs that I religiously follow but then life plays this trick on you wherein you like it or not, it ends up giving you something to write about…

Well..

.

1) Of late, thanks to the inflation we guys have started to cook dinner at home…yippee! Homely food so you may think…but no…It’s just food (edible of course) cooked at home…we have managed to learn and decently cook about 5-6 dishes, apart from the variety of rice items that we can make. But still the homely food that any of our mom’s would cook is far far better than our food cooked at home…one thing our food does to us, is controls our weight (we use minimal oil) as well as the disappearance of the few remaining coins in our pockets!! 😉

I basically end up doing all the vegetable chopping…ya am the “vegetarian butcher”…and due to over exposure to the brutality of chopping the vegetables, my eyes have either lost their sensitivity or have become terribly confused. For instance, I was butchering the onions and my eyes act perfectly fine…and after the onions were done with, it was the turn of the potatoes…what do my eyes do now?? They get over sensitive, over burdened, over loaded and cry…yes, the tears of a ‘vegetarian butcher’s joy’!!! phew! 😀

Cooking tip: Look into the eyes of the onion as you chop…it wont make you weep!! You peep, you weep!! 😛

2) Yesterday late night, around 12:30 I was busy watching a movie called “Dirty Deeds” (no…no…no…it’s not that kinda movie…pls :P) with the lights on (see I told you, it’s not that kinda reel) and what do I get to see (not on the screen)…Jerry…yes a mouse, a rodent…running happily on the floor of my bedroom…Now since I was one brave soul, I didn’t yell my guts out…I just ran out of my room to inform roomy #1 who was sitting in the hall, surfing…the hot news made him climb up his chair asking me “Where? Where??…How big? How many??”

His immediate action made me ignore him and knock on the bedroom door of my other 2 roommates…they were thankfully awake and didn’t cry foul…Roomy #2 joined #1 on the chair…but roomy #3 was one brave soul who immediately came with a broom in hand (I still feel like he slept with a broom in hand…if not, where the hell did he get it from?) asking the same “Where? Where?? How big? How many??” as if he was going on a hunt! 😛

#1 and #3 were so alike, yet miles apart…

Commander #3 and myself entered my room with a broom each in hand and ready for the kill…but I guess our Jerry had got enough time to escape from us, the Toms…He lives to see another day…probably more…

PJ time: What will Tom be called if he keeps looking here and there for Jerry?? – A peeping Tom!!

3) Today evening as I reached home from office past 8pm and closed the door behind me, I heard a knock. I opened to find my high and dry (not drunk, but definitely dry) house owner in front of my eyes…Being terrified, I said something which I should not have said…I said, “Come in, pls have a seat sir”!! OMG!!

He royally comes in and sits…just like an elephant does in a circus, on command from its ring-master. Only difference is that this dude of the 60’s doesn’t have a trunk, and ya a tail. Rest all are the same…big ears, protruding teeth, big bu*t and an indifferently big mouth!!

All his features are don’t matter much…The only and most annoying thing he does is talk with no fullstop, ask questions non-stop and park his base for an indefinite timing.

He tells me that he came cos it was raining outside…I didn’t know where outside, as outside my window it wasn’t raining for nuts! Hmm…my bad day I assumed. Nah! I was sure!! 😦

He starts off with a “Why is the stock market falling, when the tomato prices are rising?”

The best thing about him is that, he needs an answer to his questions…right or wrong, is never a concern. Initially I used to struggle to think of answers…but one day he himself gave me a clue by saying “Say something son”!!

I answered him with a “Tomato prices are rising cos the fuel prices have gone up…and stocks fall when crude oil prices increase”…am not sure even now if I am right…but he was ok with it!! 😀

I am meeting him today for like the 9th time in my 9th month in this house…and today he asked me my name, for the 9th time…then asked me my cell number…ya for the 9th time…the company I work for, yes 9th time again!!

But I have learnt the game…the hard way of course, but learnt nevertheless…

I asked about his daughter (“and sir, u said her name is??”) for the 9th time…I know he hated when I asked that, for the 9th time…I asked him about his son’s bank profile…9th time of course…got to know it’s the 2nd largest bank in the world for the 9th time…but I doubt…again for the 9th time…phew, and the show will continue I guess…hehe

Finally after about 2 hours…of which he brainwashed me for close to 90 minutes…he watched TV for 15 minutes…and also read the newspaper for 15 minutes before asking me “Can I take your leave??”…I was like “What? Now what does he want to take away?”…He understood that I didn’t get it, and so clarifies with a “Shall I leave??” and I smile big time with “Ofcourse, ya ya…pls”…and the mammoth disappears!! 😀

Food for thought: Life makes us experience all that we don’t ask for…yet we crave for something we don’t have…Hmmm…
